Senior Database Architect
We’re looking for a Senior Database Administrator/Architect who’s interested in leveraging their database administration knowledge in the next wave of enterprise technologies. We are supporting existing ComSec systems and looking to design and build the next generation systems for this purpose. We are working with government customers on complex systems and projects, so the ideal candidate must be a self-starter interested in learning new things from source technology providers like Microsoft.
The ideal candidate has an understanding of architectural principles for SQL Server, MySQL and/or PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate has a talent for troubleshooting and root cause analysis. The ideal candidate has deep experience in database performance tuning. Lastly, the ideal candidate makes decisions quickly and communicates them clearly to the team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, build and automate Enterprise Cloud database solutions that are both highly available and highly performing
- Test and document database administration systems
- Support day-to-day operations and management of an enterprise level production database in the cloud or on premises
- Document, improve and automate current procedures and security of the systems
- Create best practices for secure database operations
Education & Experience:
- BS Degree in Computer Science/Engineering/Information Systems or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience with SQL Server, MySQL and/or PostgreSQL
- 5+ years of experience on production deployment is a must
- 5 years of demonstrated database expertise with the ability to successfully complete the toughest engagements and handle the most troublesome client situations
Required Skills:
- Has experience in secure government system architecture and design
- Strong experience supporting mission critical relational databases such as MS SQL Server, MySQL and/or PostgreSQL in a 24/7 environment
- Expert level experience in SQL Server administration, managing clusters and database monitoring
- Experience working with large data sets over 1TB
- Experience with NoSQL databases - Redis, Cosmos, Mongo, Couchbase
- Expert level in performance tuning and optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems
- Experience in implementation of highly available solutions and disaster recovery with MSSQL Server.
- Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts.
- Knowledge of indexes, index management, statistics, data-at-rest encryption, secure connectivity
- Experience working with Windows server and Active Directory. Formal large scale development and production experience.
- Experience in cloud PAAS Azure, Amazon AWS and on-premises systems.
- Ability to work with aggressive timelines, in a team environment with a willingness to learn and grow
- Works independently on large and/or complex technical projects
